Preparing for Mother’s Day 2018

With Mother’s Day 2018 on Sunday this coming Saturday is the very best time to come and select some delicious ingredients for a special meal or a lovely Mother’s Day treat.  The ladies from Hexham Country Market will be back after their winter break, so you’ll have a chance to buy some of their gorgeous cakes, or buy a locally made marmalade for that special breakfast.  And while you’re thinking about breakfast, you could add some of the best bread in Northumberland from Bread and Roses, organic eggs from Askerton Castle and perhaps a rasher of bacon (or two) from Bywell Fish and Game.

The market will be open at 9am and run until 1.30pm

Cumbrian Pie Company at the market as guest producer

We’re delighted to welcome the Cumbrian Pie Company to the market this coming weekend as a guest producer.  The company is well-established  in Cumbria and has been expanding into the North East.  We’re delighted that they are now able to join us in Hexham.

The pies are all handmade with the finest ingredients and you’ll find an excellent range of flavours to tempt you.

Hexham Farmers’ Market has been without a regular pie producer since the very untimely death of Kenny, who was the Prince of Pies nearly two years ago.  We’ll not forget Kenny, but are very pleased that The Cumbria Pie Company is keen to take on the pie-mantel!

The farmers’ market in Hexham on Saturday 24 February will open for custom at about 9am and will run until 1.30pm

Stallholders returning to the market in February

Many of our stallholders use January as a time to recover from the busy time over Christmas, to do a deep clean of their premises or even to take a holiday, but by February many of them are ready to return to the market.

This coming Saturday, 10 February 2018, will see the return of a good number of them.

We’re delighted to welcome back Malcolm Dearmer from TOC Aromatherapy, makers of extraordinary soaps and lotions, Tom and Nicola Smith who run Muckle Brewing, the microbrewery based at Park Village near Haltwhistle, Tracy Thompson from Northern Ark Nursery at Longhorsley (spring must be on the way!) and Ian Nixon of Spicy Monkey who is returning after an absence of almost a year. You can find more information about all our stallholders on the producers page.

We also very pleased trhat the Tarset Wool Gathering will be joining us once more as a guest this weekend.  A small group of wool crafters based in the North Tyne Valley they’ll be bringing locally produced wool and a range of products they’ve made with it.

The market takes place on Saturday 10 February 2018 and runs between 9am and 1.30pm.

New website live!

We’re delighted to be launching our new website today, 8 February 2018, and hope you’ll find it useful and interesting too.

Thanks to the work by graphic designer Marcus Byron from Hexham, all our publicity has the same look and feel again: you’ll see it reflected in our banners which are up around the town in the run-up to the market, in our flyers giving you dates for the farmers’ market, and in our fortnightly ad in the Hexham Courant.

Our new website has a facility to look up different categories of stallholders for the first time, so if you want to know about the meat or cheese producers that come to the market, you’ll be able to get that information at the click of a button from our producers pages

We’d be really keen to hear what you think about the new design, so let us know via our social media channels or the contact page on the web site
