This Saturday, 26 September is our apple celebration and we have a market -packed with great locally produced food, drink and other local products and plenty of choice for a big part of your weekly shop.
We have a total of 26 stalls with Transition Tynedale’s Apple Juicing and our Apple Expert, Ros Nichol, on hand to identify any mystery apples you might want to get a name for. Both will be on the Abbey Flags, facing towards the Market Place. Music will come from Sofia Obradovic who will bring her harp to play for us.
We’ll have six stalls by the Abbey facing into Beaumont Street: Northumberland Honey, Tim Foxall, The Greek Bakery, First and Last Brewery, Go Local Food and Liddesdale Venison. There are five stalls on the Abbey Flags facing the market: John Howdon W&R, Greenfield Growers, the Generoud Gardener and the apple stalls. The rest of the crowd- Slackhouse Farm, Durham Soap, Spicy Monkey, Samosa Singh, J&R Armitage, Northern Ark Nursery, Alex Bakes, Noisette Catering, Northumbrian Pantry, Messy Date, Ravensworth Grange, Hallsford Farm, GNAA, Askerton Castle and Murphy’s Kitchen will be back in the Market Place.
We welcome back Liddesdale Venison and Messy date who have been absent for a few weeks and Gill of The Generous Gardener for her second market.
If you have apples to identify, please bring at least a couple of the and talk to Ros about the properties and aspect of the tree (where is it growing, how old is it roughly, eater or cooker etc.)
