Northumberland Quality Meats

Steve Ramshaw from Monkhouse farm in West Woodburn raises organic Aberdeen Angus beef cattle, lamb and mutton from Scottish black face sheep and rare breed pork. He also produces delicious meat pies, burgers and sausages. Steve has won many awards for his top class meats, the latest being regional winner of the uktv local food hero award. Northumberland quality meats are available at every market.

Moorhouse Farm

Ian Byatt from Moorhouse farm has a range of delicious pork, beef and lamb. The homely meat pies are made with delicious pastry and rich meaty fillings. Traditional pease pudding and black pudding are also available. Available at the markets on the 2nd Saturday of the month.

Middlemay Lamb

Now organically certified the Craighead family raise their renowned lamb near Ponteland. Ready made lamb dishes are also available including moussaka and koftas. Available at the markets on the 2nd Saturday of the month.

Ravensworth Grange

Anne Gray from Ravensworth grange farm near Gateshead is known for the excellent pork from her rare breed pigs. The bacon and sausages are superb, and tasty gluten free sausages are also produced. Available at the market twice a month.

Herding Hill farm

The Rayson family farm close to Hadrians Wall near Haltwhistle, where they produce fantastic beef from Dexter cattle, they also have rare breed lamb and pork, available at every market.

Askerton Castle

Located near Brampton and fully organic this farm produces lamb, pork and delicious beef from Belted Galloway cattle, also organic poultry and eggs. They also produce beautiful Beltie rugs and alpaca knitting yarns. Available at the market twice a month.

Border County Foods

Tasty Cumberland sausages produced the traditional way from rare breed pigs in Cumbria, available at the market on the 2nd Saturday of the month.

Cumbrian Lass

A wide variety of traditional pies, including individual or family sized, are available twice a month.

Hadrian’s Game Larder

A selection of game from local shoots available seasonally. Also tasty traditional game pies produced in a variety of sizes from individual to party size. Available twice a month.

Northumberland Mussels

Steve Oldale hand picks the fresh wild mussels from the waters around Holy Island. These succulent tasty mussels are the talk of the town! Come to the market early to catch these mussels before Steve sells out. Available seasonally during the cooler months, usually September to April.

Slack House Farm

Dianne and Eric Horn have gained a fine reputation for their excellent Birdoswald cheese, hand made on the farm, close to Birdoswald fort on Hadrians wall, available twice a month.

Hunters House Farm

A fantastic selection of delicious cheeses hand made on the farm in Teesdale produced from goats, sheep and Dexter cows milk. Available twice a month.

Northumberland Cheese Company

A wide range of hand made cheeses from the dairy at Blagdon, produced from cows, sheeps and goats milk. Available at every market.

Bywell Smoked Fish and Game

Bernard Lynch hand smokes a variety of local fish, game and poultry to produce delicious smoked delicacies. Smoked bacon, pancetta, and smoked brie are also available twice a month.

Weardale soup

Delicious soups made from organic vegetables available in cartons to take home or hot to enjoy as a warming take away. The soups contain no thickening agents and are suitable for gluten free diets. Christine and Richard Peart also produce a range of gluten free pastries including quiches. They are at the market twice a month.

Blue Bell Organics

Katrina Palmer and her partner Steve work hard to grow their wide range of organic vegetables, salads and fruit. They bring the very best and freshest produce to the market twice a month. They also produce organic apple juice and preserves.

Brockbushes

Our local pick-your-own farm come to the market with fruits in season during the summer months when gooseberries, redcurrants, strawberries etc are available. Pies and tarts using their own fruits are also available.

Cropped Up

Organically grown salads, vegetables and fruit grown by the students at nearby Dilston college, available when in season.

Chain Bridge Honey farm

The bee- keeping Robson family from near Berwick produce fantastic honey from the hives around the farm. A variety of honeys and honey produce are available including candles and cosmetics. They can be found at the market on the 2nd Saturday of the month.

Trees Can`t Dance

Red hot chilli peppers grown near Haltwhistle, made into a wonderful range of exciting sauces and tasty spice mixes to enliven your cooking. Available at most markets. Fresh chillies are available when in season. Also look out for the amazing chocolate and chilli truffles.

Wynbeech

Dave Appleby is an enthusiastic producer of a wide range of preserves, including chutneys, salad dressings and jams. Available at every market.

Pickled Pink

An interesting range of pickles and preserves. Available at the market on the 4th Saturday of the month.

Loughbrow

Mrs Clark has a range of seasonal produce from her large garden including fresh fruit, vegetables and flowers in season. She also has a range of jams, marmalades and preserves made using her home-grown produce, plus traditional cakes and meringues. Usually available at the market on the 2nd Saturday of the month.

Cumberland Mustard

Hot and tasty, whole grain and smooth, Geoff and Marilyn create a variety of mustards and dressings produced at Alston. They also produce delicious pickled cherries and cranberries. (try these with a game pie from Hadrians Game Larder. ) available at the 2nd market of the month from April.

Jo's Home-baked Bread

Organic bread baked in Hexham, mostly using flour grown and milled at nearby Gilchesters farm. Jo producers a wide range of slowly fermented hand made breads including whole wheat, spelt, sour doughs and tasty focaccia. Available at every market.

The Moody Baker

From the bakery in Alston a selection of tasty, freshly baked breads pies, savouries and snacks, such as delicious leek and stilton pies or chilli bean wraps. Available at every market.

The Farmers Wives

Three rural women with traditional baking skills bring a selection of their home baked cakes, pies and scones to sell at the market on the 2nd Saturday of the month. When in season they also bring eggs and vegetables.

Xocolatyl

Indulge yourself and your friends with irresistible chocolate treats made by Julian Bade. Gorgeous chocolate tarts, truffles and cakes all made using local eggs and cream are available at every market.

The Chirnells

Heather Foggon, from Thropton, near Morpeth bakes a selection of cakes, tea breads, biscuits, tray bakes and scones. She can be found at the market on the 4th Saturday of the month.

Allendale Brewery

Local young entrepreneur, Tom Hicks, is one of the latest additions to producers at the farmers market. He brews delicious bottled beers and ales at Allendale using local malt from Berwick.

T. O.C. Aromatherapy

Maggie Dearmer creates a selection of aromatherapy soaps, shampoos and creams, ideal for gifts or treating yourself. Her products are available at both markets each month.

Minerva

A selection of screen printed articles, occasionally available at the market, designed and produced at the studio and workshop located at St Camillus in Hexham.
