Northumberland rapeseed oil available at Hexham this weekend

Rapeseed oil from Yellowfields Oil near Morpeth in Northumberland will be available again at Hexham Farmers' Market this Saturday, 9 November 2013.

Market Manager Peter Samsom has arranged for a small supply to be at the market. Peter said:

"Unfortunately Helen Potts is still not able to come back to the market herself, but we're keen to make sure our customers are able to buy this excellent local product. Rapeseed oil is a very healthy alternative to olive oil and provides a little bit of summer on a November day.  Our market rules require the person who sells the product to be involved in the production process, but on this occasion I will be selling the oil on Helen's behalf."

As well as Yellowfields Oil, Brian Hunter of the Northumbria Soup Company will be bringing back his very popular soup, which is an excellent winter warmer and as it is British Sausage Week, you might want to look out for the excellent locally produced sausages from Ravensworth Farm, Askerton Castle Estate or Hallsford Farm, all of which reare their own pigs.

Hexham Farmers' Market runs between 9am and 1.30pm.

For one day only: change of Farmers' market closing time

Regular customers of Hexham Farmers' Market are encouraged to come and do their shopping early on Saturday 26 October 2013 as the market will close at 12noon on that day.  This change will allow the Hexham Community Partnership to set up some of the rides which will form a big part of the Hexham Spook Night which will open at 3pm that same afternoon.

Peter Samsom, the farmers' market organiser for Hexham said: "I apologise in advance for any inconvenience this might cause our customers, but by finishing a little early we'll be able to help this very popular event in the centre of the town. We'll be back to our usual finishing time of 1.30pm on our first market in November, which will be on the 9th."

On Saturday Beaumont Street in Hexham will be closed and producers at the farmers' market will pack up as swiftly and efficiently as they can, but some congestion is likely.
