Print PDF

CelebrationofBreadBread is the staff of life so should have a home on every farmers' market, and Hexham is no exception, so you'll find a range of locally produced breads. But we also have traditional pies and some very nice cakes and biscuits.  You can find plain and simple or elaborate,  naughty or virtuous.

Every market:

The Moody Baker - Bakery cooperative from Alston in the North Pennines AONB. Producers of breads, garnola, cakes and a range of pies, including Wolf Pie!

Bread 'n Roses - Andy Smith and Nigel Wild produce a wide range of artisan breads using locally produced flours, sourdoughs and plenty of time.

Hexham Country Markets - A group of local people making an excellent range of biscuits and cakes. Also produce jams etc.

Second Market of the month:

The Chirnells - Heather Foggon produces a range of breads, cakes and biscuits near Rothbury on the edge of Northumberland National Park.

For one day only: change of Farmers' market closing time

Regular customers of Hexham Farmers' Market are encouraged to come and do their shopping early on Saturday 26 October 2013 as the market will close at 12noon on that day.  This change will allow the Hexham Community Partnership to set up some of the rides which will form a big part of the Hexham Spook Night which will open at 3pm that same afternoon.

Peter Samsom, the farmers' market organiser for Hexham said: "I apologise in advance for any inconvenience this might cause our customers, but by finishing a little early we'll be able to help this very popular event in the centre of the town. We'll be back to our usual finishing time of 1.30pm on our first market in November, which will be on the 9th."

On Saturday Beaumont Street in Hexham will be closed and producers at the farmers' market will pack up as swiftly and efficiently as they can, but some congestion is likely.
